Hot rhythms in Utrecht
by Judith Heinrich, Petra Meier and Judith Fasler
After a relaxing and hot day off in Amsterdam, a-ha head for Utrecht. This is a-ha’s first ever show after almost 10 years in Holland while their last concert was a gig in Amsterdam’s famous club the Roxy during their ‘Memorial Beach’ club tour in 1993.
This time the venue is very different – Utrecht’s Muziekcentrum is usually staging classical concerts, but tonight a-ha are heating up the seats in the concert hall.
And yet another change in the set list, you can hardly catch up with those guys! It takes the audience a while to get off their seats, but especially the songs from the band’s latest album get them going. A favourite seems to be ‘Afternoon High’ – while it was a weak opener for the Oslo stadium concert, it has grown stronger from concert to concert.
The ice between the band and audience is finally broken with ‘Take On Me’ which has somehow turned into a cult song and is getting rockier from day to day thanks to Paul’s energy.
‘The Living Daylights’ unites Europe, and Magne encourages the audience to sing along so that even the people in Oslo can hear them and that they would not be going home until everyone sang along.
Let’s spot the set list changes tomorrow in Brussels…
