“Scared of Heights”
Earlier today, a press release was sent out from Universal Germany about Morten’s second single, “Scared of Heights”. The single will be released outside Norway on March 23, and there will be a music video for the song as well.
The single cover is below, and the press release text follows.

It is the next chapter in a story about a great band – a new beginning following a triumphant farewell. Deep inside, Morten Harket felt that the whole story had not yet been told: The story of a-ha, with its unforgettable songs. “I definitely didn‘t want to do anything half-hearted: But I had the feeling that it was not the end of the road”, he recalled, looking back to December 2010. In Oslo, after 25 years, a-ha had finally broken up. A break-up without ill-will, opening new doors.
With the light, up-tempo arrangement of “Scared of Heights” came the first “post a-ha era” song. Upon hearing the intro, it was clear: Morten Harket had listened to his heart. He is taking the band’s special aura into the future – in his own way. Unlike in his earlier solo albums, he is not trying to stick or relate to any specific genre, but is clearly dedicating himself to the art of the great pop songs. This is obvious when his unmistakable voice floats through an arrangement penned by Norwegian songwriter Espen Lind, co-writer of Trains 2009 hit “Hey Soul Sister”. This is when the spirit of a-ha unites with Harket’s joyful creativity.
Thus “Scared of Heights” is both a sample of, and a look at, the upcoming “Out of My Hands” album. After creating the framework in his studio at home in Oslo fjord, Harket put together a multi-talented team. His very old friend and lyricist Ole Sverre Olsen joined him, as did Swedish producer Peter Kvint, British studio crack Steve Osborne and keyboarder Erik Ljunggren. The intensive work surrounding “Out of My Hands” was “a game of mutual, inspirational ping-pong”, recalls Harket.
Congratulations, Morten! I can’t wait to hear your new music! Love you forever.
Will be a music video for the song? Hurrah!!!
It’s great that the individual band memebers are continuing to spread their creative wings and it’s always interesting as a fan to hear how different their individual songs are to their a-ha tracks.
Morten is very soulful is in his appraoch and captures emotion so beautifully in both his personal choice of songs and in his delivery, however on an individual basis the appeal to the majority that they hold as a-ha is not there. It’s something about the magic formula that the three of them frst formed right back in the early days of playing demos together before they set sail to search for fame and fortune.
I do feel so fortunate to have their music as a soundtrack to my lfe and Look forward to enjoying what they bring creatively to the future.
Nothing shows their talent better than how much they still have to give and how much they enjoy making music.
Best wishes to Morten with his upcoming new single, album and tour.
cant wait for the new album to come out & see Morten on tour in Zurich & Dusseldorf!!!!!!!!!!!!! love Jo x
Good news we have here, thanks to ah-a.com)I even logged in here! I didn’t do it since the a-ha’s split up
The short drops we have heard in Rio really sharpened our ears further than before. I am very happy to see that we will continue to have access to a work so thorough and well done, and that 2010 was not the end. Now, it is time. Let’s Harket now
HIS NEW ALBUM WILL BE ANOTHER SUCCESS !!!
GOOD LUCK !!!

a – has still lives. For many years Morten, from Spain
I love that Morten could also feel that a-ha’s music and creativity couldn’t just end with their last concerts in Oslo. You could see how touched Morten was and his face was so beautiful (it shows in the DVD too), especially at the very end. I’ve been wondering if ‘Out Of My Hands’ has to do with Morten not really wanting the end to happen when it did, but that it was just the way it had to be for whatever reason. It means a lot to me that he wants to carry some part of a-ha on.
Time is a great ally to acquire maturity and really recognize yourself. Congratulations for finding your new path and the results that come from experience.
Its a wonderful song Morten thank you <3 !
Morten has the loveliest voice in the world and your soil seems to be continuing something that will not end ever. Congratulations and thank you. Love you.
