On Sunday, a-ha performed a 20-song set in Yekaterinburg, Russia, kicking off the spring leg of the ‘Cast In Steel’ tour.

As Magne mentioned in his Q&A a couple of weeks ago, there were a few significant changes to the set list from the previous concerts on the tour; not only was there an added dimension of vocals by Tini on several songs, but Magne and Paul both sang lead for one song each during the set.

Two songs from ‘Cast In Steel’ made their live debuts, ‘Giving up the Ghost’ and ‘Living at the End of the World’. Perhaps the biggest surprise addition to the set list was ‘Mother Nature Goes to Heaven’ from ‘Foot of the Mountain’, which was not played live during the band’s 2009-2010 tours.

Leading up to the concert, there were some interesting posts by the band on Instagram, including a short soundcheck teaser posted by Tini on Saturday:

I know that A-Ha doesn’t read it personally but still…Thanks for everything. This is was the main day in my life, because I was waited for it over 16 years. Morten is my personal God of vocal and one of the reasons why I’m actually become singer. Magne, Paul-amazing musicians, I love this trio a lot… I didn’t even imagine, that I’ll see them behind scene, I guess this meeting will change my life.
Perfect sound, perfect performance, perfect music.
I hope to see and feel it not once…much love, Russia, Yekaterinburg.
