On Sunday, a-ha performed a 20-song set in Yekaterinburg, Russia, kicking off the spring leg of the ‘Cast In Steel’ tour.
As Magne mentioned in his Q&A a couple of weeks ago, there were a few significant changes to the set list from the previous concerts on the tour; not only was there an added dimension of vocals by Tini on several songs, but Magne and Paul both sang lead for one song each during the set.
Two songs from ‘Cast In Steel’ made their live debuts, ‘Giving up the Ghost’ and ‘Living at the End of the World’. Perhaps the biggest surprise addition to the set list was ‘Mother Nature Goes to Heaven’ from ‘Foot of the Mountain’, which was not played live during the band’s 2009-2010 tours.
Leading up to the concert, there were some interesting posts by the band on Instagram, including a short soundcheck teaser posted by Tini on Saturday:
The tour continues on Tuesday in Kazan, Russia and beyond. In all there are 32 more dates in Russia, Latvia, Belarus, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Norway.
