UK single update

We’ve received this press release about the UK release of ‘Butterfly, Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)’:

a-ha – Last ever single
BUTTERFLY, BUTTERLY (THE LAST HURRAH)
VIDEO MADE BY ‘TAKE ON ME’ DIRECTOR STEVE BARRON
Release date: 20 September 2010

On 20 September 2010, 25 years since the release of their first single, ‘Take On Me’, a-ha will be releasing their last ever track ‘Butterfly, Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)’. Taken from their ultimate album 25 – The Very Best Of (released 4 October) this very special release and final piece of new material from the band marks a-ha’s farewell year.

After nine albums and sales of more than 36 million worldwide, it was announced on Thursday 15 October 2009 that 2010 would see the end to the expansive career of the iconic pop band. ‘Butterfly Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)’ will be the band’s final release and is the perfect upbeat track that provides fans with the classic synth pop sound that the Norwegian trio are renowned for. The career retrospective album, which features the single, 25 – The Very Best Of, celebrates the astounding contributions the band has made to popular music for the past three decades.

Starting where they began, acclaimed director Steve Barron will work with a-ha once again and provide the perfect accompaniment to ‘Butterfly, Butterfly (The Last Hurrah)’ with the band’s final music video. Considered as one of the most iconic music videos of all time, Baron directed a-ha’s groundbreaking ‘Take on Me’ as well as ‘The Sun Always Shines on TV’, ‘Hunting High and Low’ and ‘Cry Wolf’. Other memorable works include Michael Jackson’s ‘Billy Jean’ and Dire Straits’ ‘Money for Nothing’.

To finish off the year and, quite literally, ‘end on a high note’, a-ha will embark on their final tour this November when they will be playing 10 arena dates throughout the UK as part of their ‘Ending On A High Note Tour’. The band will also perform a special one off performance in front of a sold out audience at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 8 October where they will be performing their groundbreaking debut album Hunting High And Low in full for the very first time.

the mail I received from a-ha.com says that October 4 will mark the release of the “25″ album in the UK and in other countries as well. Does this mean that we’ll be able to buy the album in Argentina?? How about the Deluxe Editions of HHL and SD?

    Hello from Tokyo!
I got the song on my cell phone and listen to it almost every day. I’m so looking forward to the Japanese edition of “25″, wondering which songs were selected.
And I really enjoyed Summersonic in Tokyo on Aug.7! Thank you so much for coming to Japan to have your last show. Your music has touched so many people’s lives including mine. Your music will stay in my heart forever.
    Thank you so much!

    Let me say something, too.
It’s not fair that full ‘Hunting High And Low’ concert is going to take place in only London! I don’t say to make it a film(!), but you cannot convince the world unless releasing gorgeous packaged DVD including special interviews of them!!!

By the way, I wonder that the set list will be exactly the same in order of the album? I think that the reverse order would be more dramatic.

I am an Irish Aha fan and I can’t wait to get the Very Best of Aha album which is a fitting tribute to this great band.
I had hoped that Aha would have included Dublin as part of their tour but I believe that will not happen. I have decided to go to Glasgow and see my heros perform for the first and final time.
I want to thank Morten, Maags and Paul for the great music, songs, videos and great memories of my youth and I wish them well for the future and than them for bringing light into my life.
All the best and God bless you all.

I could not post this comment below the last news, about de video launch. But I hope all of you (from a-ha team) can read it.
After I had watched the video, I became a litte bit depressed. But I understand all the message you wanted to transmit.
I am greatful for you to consider the fans, ending in such incredible and honorable way, as everything you usually do. That is a pitty for the world.
I am proud to be fan of such honorable band, and want you the most happiness in your future plans.
You have just said bye bye to Brazil, but not for me. I am going to see you twice, because you deserve all my consideration and respect as artists and person, and “the time rushes on ahead”, and we never know if this will be the last chance.
I am sure that you know, we are eternally responsible for what we captivate.
Be happy. CONGRATULATIONS for all of you who work in this aim.
