Winner of the fan party logo contest
We are pleased to announce that the winner of the fan party logo contest is Richard Knight from the UK. Below is the winning design:
Here is what Richard told us about his fan experience and his winning design:
“I became a fan of a-ha back in 1985 when I first saw the “Take On Me” video on “Top of the Pops” and I was blown away, my main interest at the time was illustration, so the video got me hooked and later, of course the music became a big part of my growing up. I’ve been a fan ever since!”
“I entered the contest completely by chance as I happened to log-on to the website to find out about the upcoming concerts and saw the logo competition advertised.”
“I chose to go the simple, strong typographic route with the hidden “a-ha” purely because I felt this made more sense then trying to convey 25 years in one logotype with an illustration, and of course the final design had to work in 2 colours for various applications. I feel it was a strong solution and it looks great on t-shirts and other collateral for the upcoming party.”
“Winning this competition has been a great honour, and I’ll use the design in some promotional material for my new design and branding agency, Chomp Creative Limited, and it will be showcased on my website, http://www.chomp.me.uk in the coming weeks.”
We promised a prize to the winning designer, and Richard will of course receive a ‘fan pack’ with his design on it. We also wanted to give him tickets to an upcoming UK concert, but due to his work obligations none of the concerts fit into his schedule. In the end, he accepted a free tour book in addition to the shirt and bag as his contest prize.

It’s very nice to see what other participants made. They are very talented. Many good ideas and humor, especially in the last three. I like the design of the number 75.
Number 64 was a good idea and number 65 could have been nicer with colors.

i want to thank morten harket for coming back and stopping to meet the last remaining fans at wembley arena on a cold,cold night at 2 a.m, you made my year and i’ll never forget that intensely emotional night[so sad, but so awesome!!!] i also thank the true a-ha fans who will go on to oslo-alicia,michelle,alex and hyatt,i’m so glad that i got to see my last concert with you xxx
Awww Wow! You’re sooooo lucky Faisal that you got to meet Morten! Did you meet him at the entrance near the front of the Arena where the barriers were? Hubbie & I loved the concert & as we were staying in a hotel very close to the Arena (which we heard that night was similar to a-ha’s plans) we went back to the hotel to get a torch then we came back out and waited until midnight. Sadly it was bitterly cold & I have asthma & we were shivering & the Security guy wasn’t very pleasant to some of us (he said to one girl who had travelled a great distance – “What do you want? A medal?!!”) & there was a drunk guy annoying us as well so we called it a night at midnight
I really wish we’d known that Morten was returning as we would’ve returned to see him as well 
We heard Morten singing The Sun Always Shines On TV & we heard Mags speaking as well 
We were very fortunate to hear part of their soundcheck earlier that afternoon though whilst walking past the Arena
The concert was absolutely amazing
I will really miss a-ha

The concert was incredible and out of this world! The best night of my life!
I love a-ha so much, esp. Morten !
We were a very patient (and mad, according to Morten ) bunch who stayed in the arctic like conditions of Wembley, that bitterly sad and poignant Saturday night. I was one of the lucky ones who had my car pulled up on the roadside to retreat in to for the warmth for a while. My sleeping 10year old daughter refused to wake for a chance to meet one of my musical heros. She is , however regretting that decision, now ! Conversation went ” Lucy, would you like to go and meet Morten ? ” she replied ” NOOoooooOOOO, I don’t wanna” Hmmmmm Bet THAT’S a first for Morten. Lovely, patient man considering most of the remaining fans were positively jumping on him and backing him onto his car. Feel very lucky, treasured autograph and photo obtained !
ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT, BOYS !! As a touring band you will be missed, terribly but the music goes on and will be in my life always – thank you from the bottom of my music loving heart.
