Fan Report:
by Monika Hein
This concert started out with a huge confusion amongst fans – will Morten be able to sing, after the gig in Stadtallendorf had been cancelled due to a virus causing voice problems?
Until 5 pm it was uncertain whether this concert would actually happen…
Fans started to queue from about 1:00 pm, the weather was fine, people were in a good mood. At the same time, some fans who wanted to travel to Kiel from far abroad turned their cars back home, because the uncertainty was too much of a risk for them.
At a certain point the soundcheck was heard from inside the venue, somebody saw Morten arriving, so it seemed that the concert would actually happen after all.
The queue got longer, and at about 6.30 pm doors opened, let the crazy crowd to the next doors – some girls even fell down while running towards the doors – passionate a-ha-fans!
The concert started out with a seemingly happy band, whereas it was totally clear that Morten still had problems with his voice. After some songs he apologized for his husky voice, mentioned some “holes in his voice” and said that he wanted to be here, with us – “against doctor’s advice.”
He managed his problem with charm – he let people sing lines of songs, mouthing the words (as if a true fan didn’t know the words!!
) and started laughing during “The swing of things” line: “Oh, but how can I speak of the world rushing by with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes..”
Magne and Paul seemed to be concerned about Morten’s condition, which I felt was very caring and thoughtful. Magne helped out with some high notes and really enjoyed himself, jumping up and down the stage, playing the drums, talking some german and being the sparkling entertainer that he is. Paul rocked the stage with his guitars as always, being the quiet genius that he likes to be.
All together is was a very intense concert for the fans, the contact between them and the band was much stronger that in other gigs I have seen.
At the same time, some people, who didn’t know the band very well, left the show early, mentioning they were disappointed in the sound and in Morten’s voice condition. Some even said the concert should have been postponed. So, from this point of view, it was ceratinly a different concert they saw, than we, the fans did. We were just happy to be part of this great event…
Please share your memories of this concert in the comments!
It was a great concert, wonderful, but not perfect, because also a professional singer is just human…
days and get better soon. Magne, Paul and Morten, enjoy some holidays! We will all be back in Hamburg and there we will have the Party of the Partys in 25 years!
The thought comes to my mind that it was also very special, because Morten struggled with his voice and experienced that the audience tried to help out! We all supported them as good as we possibly could! Morten, I hope you enjoy some quiet
The concert was really amazing. The audience was so great and helped Morten a lot, because he still had problems with his voice. I will add pictures later on. But here is a video, Foot of the Mountain:

Bela performance e música.A-ha,lindos como sempre.Ahh…uma dúvida,ou foi impressão minha ou no final da música ele falou “obrigado”?
Se eu não estiver errada isso é um sinal de que gosta da nossa língua do brasil,o português.
=)
I pray that Morten’s voice recovers and that there is no permanent damage due to his forcing himself to perform at these last two concerts! I will be quite mad at him, if he does hurt himself. Regardless of his talent as a singer (and his voice) he is a very special person and deserves the greatest happiness and continued success. He did an outstanding job and gave his heart and soul for the fans. God bless! :0)
Sim, sim, siiiim!! É um obrigado!!! Prestei atenção depois que vi o seu comentário aqui!! São uns fofos mesmo!! AMO!
I found watching this a little distressing…I did not attend this concert however I have seen them perform many times before. I can honestly say have never seen better than last year at the O2, Morten’s voice was truly fantastic!
I just hope that they are not pushing themselves too hard…it is very concerning to hear a singer of Morten’s calibre to be struggling so much and it must be very difficult for him.
I just pray that he recovers soon.
This was such a special show, because I haven´t seen A-HA
so close to the fans in years! Magne even gave some rare autographs
after the show! I´m still so glad, that they didn´t cancel…Thanks
for sharing!
