a-ha say farewell with highs and lows show at the Royal Albert Hall
a-ha, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Albert Hall
a-ha, Albert Hall, review
Gig Review: a-ha, Royal Albert Hall, London
Were you there?
Please share your memories of this concert in the comments!
This was an amazing show and a-ha’s energy was fantastic. The best a-ha concert I have seen. They seem to be improving with every concert.
Wow what an amazing concert this was. A-ha were absolutley fantastic and the orchestra was amazing. The whole show was just breathtaking, full of energy and an absolute joy to be part of. Morten’s vocals still amaze me,Magne and Paul both did a fantastic job playing keyboards and guitar and Magne was brilliant on the drums aswell.
I thought the whole show was just brilliant and I will always remember it. To hear both Hunting High and Low and Scoundrel Days in full was great as I love all the songs on both albums but never get to hear them all played live at other A-ha concerts so this was a real treat.
A great job done by everyone and thankyou so much a-ha for this very special memory and giving your fans a concert to celebrate your fantastic success and a wonderful first and second album.
You are all amazing guys and have made alot of people very very happy. Thankyou for all your amazing gifts and talent that have made you a truly remarkable group.
Very beautiful songs from firsts 2 albums, thank you:))
Brilliant concert. Sang along to every track. I know this sounds ungrateful, but I left the Royal Albert Hall somehow feeling ‘cheated’. This is the first concert where there was no encore. I remember seeing you (A-ha) at Wembley Arena about seven or eight years ago when you said your record label didnt think a tour was a good idea. You ran out of encores it was a fantastic night. Friday the 8th seemed a bit sterile compared to that night. Still loved every minute though. Good luck in retirement.
Having returned from the Royal Albert Hall concert, I can’t understand ‘fans’complaining for an encore as my husband and I paid to see A-ha only perform ‘Hunting High and Low’ album in its entirety yet we were treated to a 10 track encore called ‘Scoundrel Days’! We thought the whole concert was sublime ‘And You Tell Me’ with the Orchestra sent shivers down the spine. We did not expect to hear Morten engage with the audience as this concert was about showcasing the band’s debut albums, which we thought they did brilliantly!
If I only had known what was waiting there for me – I would have made EVERYTHING possible to come (despite of my work and the flight from Germany). After seeing many videos on YouTube I only can say: I’VE MISSED THE CONCERT OF MY LIFE! Why can’t there be any other chance to go there? So BRILLIANT and BREATHTAKING – can it really have been made for only two occasions?
Fantastic night and Paul’s energy was amazing to see. Took my 7 year old who sang along to every song, we had a great view from up in the circle but missed being up and dancing like I normally would have been. A great night that my little girl and I will remember for ever. Thank you a-ha.
Perfect, outstanding, brilliant. I’ve seen a-ha many times but this concert was different I really enjoyed all the songs and a big thanks to the Oslo orchestra. Well done a-ha
It was the best concert I’ve seen. The songs accompanied by the orchestra were fantastic – I danced all the way through. It was a truly magical evening.
I absolutley loved this concert, i think the Oslo Orhestra complimented your songs and made them sound even more stunning.Morten, your voice gets better and better and i wish you would reconsider ending it all !! Ive seen you many times (2 more times to come before the end) but this one stood out for me, even though i was in ‘the gods’ i danced and sung to every song and went home very, very happy. Please release this on cd or dvd, give us who were there he opportunity to re-live it, and the less fortunate ones who didnt go, the chance to see and hear it, it was too good to lose forever. I will miss you guys, after 25 yrs being a fan, i feel like im losing a family member…but good luck for the future !!
I listened to the concert again last night on BBC Radio 2 and thought how fantastic it sounded and was so pleased that I had been there to see it. It brought back wonderful memories of that lovely Autumn evening 2 weeks ago. It would be great if the concert was released on CD or even better on DVD.
I count myself very lucky to have seen this concert! It was amazing in every way. I cannot understand people complaining about a lack of encore-you got the whole 2nd album as an encore-is that not good enough??
This was an AMAZING show and a-ha’s energy was fantastic. Pal’s jump in Cry Wolf was great to see. You go Pal.
I sadly wasn’t able to see them in the U.S.A. back in 1985. I was lucky enough to see them for the first time at RHL while on holiday in London back in 2002.
I saw them in Chicago earlier this year and saw them for the last time at RHL where I first saw them. So, guess my a-ha concert experience has come full circle per say.
This was a birthday gift to myself making the trip to London to make it to this performance. It was all worth it too.
I have been a fan since the first album and was happy to finally see them perform with a orchestra. I thought they should’ve done this a long time ago.
The performance was great. It was great to see them perform there first 2 albums completely.
I only wish they did more. I thought this being there goodbye tour that they would go all out a little more since this is there only performance with an orchestra.
I thought they might surprise us and do a few songs from some of there other albums with the orchestra.
I would have liked to see them perform Living Daylights, Stay on these Roads, This Alone is Love, Angel in the Snow, Memorial Beach, To Let You Win, and of course could go on.
Again, not wanting to take away from this show because it really was a GREAT concert, but I just thought they might have surprised us with even more songs, but was an instant classic of a concert. Wish I had it on CD so that I could always go back to listen to it.
I look forward to seeing what your solo work brings, but as a whole. A-ha will be missed, but never forgotten.
Thank you guys. I only wish the USA market treated you guys better, because I would’ve loved to have seen you perform live more during your 25 years.
Thank you for coming back to the U.S. and doing a few shows for your long time fans that have never forgotten you thru the many years.
God Bless you all and thank you again.
Absolutely adored the Royal Albert Hall, from the setting, to the orchestra, the champagne, seeing so many friends there, and the atmosphere was just electric, both on stage and in the audience
I have a special love for the oboe solo in Living A Boy’s Adventure Tale, so to hear it played live with the Oslo philharmonic was just sublime. As were Here I Stand And Face The Rain and Soft Rains Of April. Loved the energy in Cry Wolf and of course, one of my favourites We’re Looking For The Whales. This is one special event I’ll surely never forget – tusen takk x
Just so so so special. The best concert ever!xx
What a great night. Please, please, please release this on DVD and CD. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
