MTV Unplugged album cover art released

Earlier today we shared the cover art of a-ha's MTV Unplugged live album on social media. See the posts linked below to read comments from fans about this great cover art!

The live acoustic album was recorded at Ocean Sound Recordings in Giske, Norway on June 22 & 23 - during the summer solstice, for which it is named.

The 'a-ha MTV Unplugged - Summer Solstice' album will be released on October 6. Cover art photography by Just Loomis, and artwork by Matthias Bäuerle, Season Zero.

Season Zero posted the following on their Facebook page about the project:

This is a very special one – and since this band has fans all around the world, I write in English this time:

In June I had the honor to attend a very unique event – the MTV Unplugged concerts of A-ha on Giske, a remote island near Ålesund in Norway. A few days before the actual concerts, I met with photographer Just Loomis, who works for A-ha since 1985, to find the imagery to convey the spirit and feeling of this long awaited first MTV Unplugged shows on the night of the summer solstice. Right there, where the world seems to end, I found myself in a dreamlike landscape – and A-ha’s rehearsals and concerts were like the most perfect soundtrack for that experience. I couldn’t be more grateful to be able to be there.

After returning to Germany I started to work on different ideas and approaches for the cover and today I’m happy to present the chosen one, together with the band!

I would like to use the opportunity to thank everyone involved in this – especially Harald Wiik (Management) and Stefanie Zoll (Universal Music Germany) who gave me their trust and chance to be a small part in this. I also would like to thank Just Loomis for taking the time – it’s been a pleasure and honor to work with his photos. Last but not least: thanks to the whole Universal team involved in this – you’re the best! :-)

There will be more photos of the artwork when the album is out in October – here and on www.seasonzero.de.
