'Våkenatt' by Bridges is Released!

Finally, nearly four decades after it was recorded, the album ‘Våkenatt’ by Bridges is released today!

You can get hold of one of the exclusive, numbered vinyl edition in the museum shop at Rockheim in Trondheim, Norway. You can also order the album online, through www.rockheim-musical-archives.no.

Before the multi-platinum, three decades long global pop career of the Norwegian band a-ha – there was Bridges. Four young boys from Oslo and Asker who rehearsed relentlessly for years, with no idea about the musical adventure some of them would experience later.

For a long time, it was believed that the collector’s item Fakkeltog (vinyl release from 1980) would be the only remaining testament of the group. Through the years, however, there has been rumours of a second Bridges album, the special recording sessions due to the theft of master tapes from a studio, and now the prolonged process of restoring and mixing the music has finally achieved resolution.

"This is an essential chapter in the history of Norwegian popular music. Våkenatt documents the transition from the indie band Bridges to the global success of a-ha. And certainly, the album is an artistic achievement on its own – a timeless musical masterpiece, which feels completely natural and relevant to release today, almost four decades after its conception. This is the sound of extremely talented and dedicated musicians evolving rapidly. Listening to the album, it`s fantastic to imagine the musicians being only 18 - 21 years old during the recording sessions," says rock historian Terje Nilsen at Rockheim.

The album was recorded by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy, Magne Furuholmen, Viggo Bondi and Øystein Jevanord in December 1980 and January 1981 at Sound Art Studio in Skippergata, Oslo with producer Svein Erichsen.

Rockheim Musical Archives is releasing 'Våkenatt' as a limited edition LP. An accompanying 16 pages booklet features previously unseen photos of the band as well as great archive material, and more. The album is available only at Rockheim - The National Museum of Popular Music, in Trondheim, Norway – or through www.rockheim-musical-archives.no.

Pre ordered albums will be shipped in week 33. If you have opt for picking the album up at Rockheim, you can do that from August 15 12PM.
